Professor David Musyimi Ndetei, MBchB (UON), DPM(London), MRcPsy, FRcPsy (UK), M.D (UON), Certificate in Psychotherapy (London), is set to make a public presentation of his Doctor of Science Thesis titled, “Studies and Works in Mental Health to Inform Practice and Policy in the African Social Cultural Context”.

As a researcher, Professor Ndetei  is dedicated to research and evidence based policy, practice and promotion of mental and neurological health, and healthy behavior. 

Professor Ndetei has  published widely in renown peer reviewed journals in psychiatry such as the British Journal of Psychiatry, British Medical Journal, among others.

Dr. Jane Ambuko Lukhachi, a researcher from the Department of Plant Science and Crop Protection, was recently appointed to join a team of other notable international experts selected to the High Level Panel of Experts (HLPE) on food security and nutrition.

HLPE established in 2010, is the science-policy interface of the UN Committee on World Food Security (CFS) and aims to improve the robustness of policy making by providing independent, evidence-based analysis and advice at the request of CFS.

Dr. Ambuko will form part of a five member team tasked with reporting on Food Losses and Waste in the Context of Sustainable Food Systems.

The Research Development Advisory Board (RDAB) held a two day retreat from August 16th – 18th 2013, at Maanzoni Lodge, to internalize and articulate policies that anchor the functions of the Board as well as the operations of the Research, Production and Extension Division.
RDAB’s membership which is drawn from across all Colleges of the University plays an advisory role to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Production and Extension) on the functions and operations of the Unit on behalf of University Management.
