Vaccinology and immunization course

KAVI Institute of Clinical Research is offering a five day course on vaccinology and immunization. The course aims to strengthen the capacity within sub-Saharan Africa in the field of vaccines and immunization.

Course targets clinicians, pharmacists, laboratory scientists, nurses, public health professionals, healthcare professionals interested in clinical aspects of vaccine delivery, postgraduate students in fields of public and clinical health, policy makers, managers of vaccine programs and bio-ethics and regulatory members.

Plenary session - reflections on the science and institutional support structures needed to enahance water security in fragile regions

Yesterday REACH global research programme hosted by UNICEF and the University of Nairobi, in partnership with Oxford University held two international events to discuss water security and drought.

Discussions held during the afternoon session focused on ‘Improving water security for the poor in drought-prone regions’. The Keynote presentations from Prof. Richard Washington, Oxford University and Dr. Gilbert Ouma, a lecturer in the Department of Meteorology tackled the issue of ‘Climate science for improving water security for the poor’.

The University of Nairobi in collaboration with the World Food Preservation Center® LLC (WFPC) and a consortium of Universities and Research & Development Institutions in Africa this week held the First Africa-wide Postharvest Loss Reduction Conference and Exhibition.

Held under the banner ‘Reducing Food Losses and Waste: Sustainable Solutions for Africa, the event attracted hundreds of participants who sought to find solutions to reducing post-harvest food loss in Africa.

The Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa, CODESRIA, invites applications from academics and researchers from African universities and research centers to participate in the 2017 session of the Gender institute, which will take place in Dakar, Senegal from June 12-23, 2017.

The Gender Institute is held annually with the aim to create awareness on gender issues in African social research milieus, integrate gender analysis into social research undertaken in Africa and the inclusion of gender approaches in the agenda of social science debates on methodology.

Eligibility

  • Be a PhD student or early career researcher in social sciences and humanities. Those in the broad fields of gender and women studies are also eligible to apply.

Yesterday during the Innovation Week 2017, a special forum took place, ‘Innovation Research Symposium’. The session kicked off at 9:00 a.m. with opening remarks from IBM Research.
