Borlaug (LEAP) - Postgraduate Fellowship Announcement

The Norman E. Borlaug Leadership Enhancement in Agriculture Program (Borlaug LEAP) is a fellowship program, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), to enhance the quality of thesis research of graduate students from developing countries who show strong promise as leaders in the field of agriculture and related disciplines.

The program is currently accepting applications from sub-Saharan African students conducting research on topics related to the US Government's global hunger and food security initiative 'Feed the Future'.

Research Grant – Proposal Writing Training

The Office of the DVC (RPE) in collaboration with UNES, will be holding a five day training on proposal writing.

The objective of the training is to equip staff with skills and knowledge that will enable them to write competitive proposals that can attract research grants.

ANSTI/DAAD - Postgraduate fellowships 2012/2013

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) a publicly funded, self governing organization of the institutions of higher learning in Germany, in-collaboration with African Network of Scientific and Technological Institutions (ANSTI) are offering a number of in-region scholarships for Masters and Ph.D. degrees to students from developing countries.

University of Nairobi now subscribes to Research Africa funding platform


The University has just concluded an agreement to access the Research Africa’s funding opportunities database.

Research Africa which is a consortium initiated by SARIMA supports institutions through a tailor made and comprehensive platform of funding opportunities and research news from the continent and beyond specifically targeted at researchers and institutions making it an invaluable resource for African research/academic institutions.

Marketing research course to benefit from links with GfK

The University of Nairobi (UoN) entered into a strategic partnership with GfK, a German research company, to establish relations in the area of developing and establishing an M.Sc. Programme in marketing research. The course which was approved last year by the Senate is being offered at the School of Business has admitted its second group of students.

The University of Nairobi is one of the 24 universities in Africa taking part in the Development Research Uptake in Sub-Saharan Africa (DRUSSA) programme.

The DRUSSA programme is a five year programme led by three partners; the Association of Commonwealth Universities, Centre for Research Evaluation, Science and technology (CREST) and the Organisation Systems Design (OSD). The programme is funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID).
