We aim at initiating collaborative research in all faculties of the University both locally and internationally in order to strengthen the culture of research, promote creative works for commercialization and enhance dissemination of research outcomes.

Currently, the University of Nairobi has over 200 active Memoranda of Understanding and Agreements signed with various Institutions and are being implemented by our six colleges namely; College of Health Sciences (CHS), College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS), College of Biological & Physical Sciences (CBPS), College of Education and External Studies (CEES), College of Architecture and Engineering (CAE) and College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences (CAVS).

The university is also committed to creating and strengthening partnerships with industry and other significant institutions and organizations to maximize its impact on creation of knowledge, development and improvement of community livelihoods. We are especially proud of the contributions the University is making through our research and learning centers and institutes and their involvement with industry, policy makers and the public.

These partnerships have enhanced the teaching and research infrastructure within the university as well as the university’s ability to provide service to the community. For instance, partnership with the University of Washington, Seattle USA has not only benefitted the University of Nairobi but the Kenyan community by help setting up several VCT centres and has facilitated the provision of prevention, treatment and care for HIV and STD infected persons, construction of diagnostics and research laboratories.

These are some of our strategic partners in research:
